Gunmen Attack NSUK Off-Campus Hostels, Abduct Students In Midnight Raid

Fear and uncertainty have gripped the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) community following a reported midnight attack by suspected kidnappers on off-campus student hostels in Gudi, Nasarawa State.

The incident, which reportedly occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, involved armed men invading private student accommodations near the university’s Engineering Campus and abducting several students during the operation.

Local sources said the attackers forcefully entered hostels in the area, firing shots and creating chaos as frightened students scrambled for safety. Initial reports suggest that at least eight students may have been taken, although authorities have yet to officially confirm the exact number of victims.

Eyewitnesses described the raid as terrifying, with many students said to have spent the night in fear while the attackers operated for several minutes.

A student source, who spoke anonymously, expressed concern over what was perceived as a delayed or inadequate security response during the incident, noting that students were left vulnerable as the attack unfolded.

The reported abduction has sparked widespread anxiety across the university community, particularly as examinations are ongoing. Students and residents are now urging security agencies and the Nasarawa State Government to take swift action to secure the release of the victims and improve security around student residential areas.

As of the time of filing this report, officials of Nasarawa State University and relevant security authorities had not released formal statements on the incident. Independent verification also remained ongoing.

The development adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Nasarawa State, especially within communities hosting large student populations.
