Call for Stronger Security Collaboration as Bandit Kingpins Surrender Arms, Release Kidnapped Victims in Katsina State

In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in Katsina State, several notorious bandit kingpins operating in Dan Musa Local Government Area have voluntarily surrendered their arms and released kidnapped victims. The event, which took place on June 14, 2025, is part of the sustained arms surrender and disengagement initiative championed by the leadership of Operation Fasan Yamma in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Among those who renounced banditry and embraced the path of peace are Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black. The repentant kingpins handed over a cache of weapons, now secured by the authorities, and released 16 kidnapped persons, including seven women and nine children. They further pledged to release all remaining captives in their custody by June 15, 2025.

While this development is a welcome step toward peace, authorities have emphasized the non-negotiable importance of security. Citizens and communities are urged not to compromise on security under any circumstances. The current success highlights the critical role of intense collaboration between security agencies and local communities in securing lives and property.

Security forces continue to maintain a strong presence in the area, with active monitoring to ensure sustained stability and prevent a resurgence of violence. The government reiterates its commitment to consolidating peace efforts while calling on all community members to remain vigilant and cooperative in rooting out criminal elements.

This milestone demonstrates the potential of dialogue and coordinated security action. However, it also reinforces the urgent need for community vigilance and unwavering cooperation with law enforcement agencies to permanently dismantle the network of terror across the region.
