Flooding Damages Ishata-Kyereku Bridge Along Loko-Ogufa Road In Nasarawa, Residents Cry Out For Urgent Intervention
The Ishata-Kyereku bridge along the Loko-Ogufa road in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has given way following flooding, leaving residents and road users concerned about the safety of the route.
The affected bridge, which links communities and areas around Guto/Aisa and Tunga/Bakono communities in Loko Area Administrative Council, has reportedly suffered significant damage, with a large portion of the road washed away by floodwater.
Residents and motorists using the route say the deteriorating condition of the bridge has become a serious threat to commuters, motorists and nearby communities.
They expressed fears that continued use of the damaged section could result in a major accident or loss of lives, particularly if urgent intervention is not provided.
Residents of Ishata and Kyereku communities are therefore calling on the Nasarawa State Government to urgently intervene and ensure the restoration of the damaged infrastructure.
They stressed that the appeal is aimed at protecting lives and preserving a vital transportation link connecting Loko, Guto/Aisa and Tunga/Bakono communities.
The residents further warned that delaying action could worsen the damage, potentially cut off the affected communities and increase the risk to motorists and other road users.
They are therefore urging the relevant authorities to act swiftly before the deteriorating bridge results in a preventable tragedy.
