Tinubu Approves Cabinet Reshuffle, Replaces Finance And Housing Ministers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting key members of the Federal Executive Council, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve economic delivery.

The decision was conveyed in a memo issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, announcing the exit of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

According to the directive, Edun has been asked to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated to serve as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.

In the housing sector, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as ministerial nominee and Minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, pending formal processes.

Dangiwa has been directed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.
The memo further instructed that all handing-over processes must be completed on or before April 23, 2026.

Akume explained that the reshuffle aligns with the administration’s commitment to enhancing coordination and achieving more impactful governance outcomes under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the President acted within the powers granted under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The President expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors, while assuring that efforts to reinvigorate the cabinet would remain an ongoing process.
