Wadada’s Ward Coordinators Decry Neglect, Seek Renewed Engagement

Coordinators who worked tirelessly for Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada during the 2023 electioneering campaign have decried what they described as neglect by their principal since his victory at the polls.

In a press statement issued in Keffi, the group, under the aegis of Wadada Ward Coordinators Forum, expressed deep concern that they have not been carried along in the Senator’s post-election activities, despite their immense contributions to his success.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Abdulqadir Adamu Jibrin, an erstwhile Councilor who represented Nasarawa North Electoral Ward, Nasarawa Local Government Area, said they were sidelined soon after the election, as a fresh team who did not render any service during the process was constituted to replace them. “All our efforts to draw the attention of our principal have not yielded any positive result,” Abdulqadir lamented.

The Forum, comprising fifty-nine (59) Ward Coordinators drawn from across Keffi, Karu, Kokona, Nasarawa, and Toto Local Government Areas that make up the Nasarawa West Senatorial District, further noted that their call for grassroots inclusion has not been given due attention. They lamented the non-involvement of grassroots support groups in the empowerment schemes and constituency projects executed so far.

According to them, many of their loyal supporters and volunteers at the community level—who worked tirelessly for the Senator’s success—have continued to feel alienated from the process of representation.

They further expressed disappointment that, to date, the ‘Thank You Tour’ they proposed to enable Senator Wadada reconnect with the electorate has not been carried out. Their constituents, they said, have been yearning to meet him and have begun expressing frustration, even blaming the Coordinators for what appears to be a communication gap.

While reaffirming their unwavering loyalty and support to Senator Wadada, the group urged him to reconsider engaging them in his ongoing representation efforts, stressing that their deep connection with the grassroots remains a vital channel for effective service delivery, political stability, and sustained popularity.

“We remain steadfast in our support and belief in the Senator’s vision,” Abdulqadir stated, “but we also hope he will find it necessary to carry us along, especially as those who helped in mobilizing the people and understanding their needs firsthand.”

The Coordinators emphasized that their call is borne out of a sincere desire to strengthen collaboration and inclusiveness for the overall progress of their Constituency and to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach the people who gave the Senator their mandate.
