Governor Sule Flags Off Harvest Of State-Owned Rice Farms In Awe, Obi
Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, on Monday, officially flagged off the harvest of the state-owned rice farms located in Awe (Jangwa) and Obi (Agwatshi) Local Government Areas.
The flag-off ceremony marked another milestone in the state government’s ongoing efforts to promote food security, enhance agricultural productivity, and empower local farmers through strategic investments in the agricultural sector.
Governor Sule, who personally witnessed the bagging and weighing processes, commended the progress recorded on the farms and expressed satisfaction with the quality of yields produced. Off-takers who partnered with the state government were also present to take delivery of the harvested paddy rice.
The Governor was accompanied by his Deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, and the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, SAN, alongside other top government officials.
The rice cultivation project, supervised by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Mr. Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye, has been a major investment by the Sule administration aimed at expanding the state’s agricultural value chain.
The initiative, which has gulped millions of naira from the state treasury, underscores the government’s resolve to position Nasarawa State as one of Nigeria’s leading rice-producing hubs.
Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting large-scale and smallholder farmers, stressing that agriculture remains a key pillar of Nasarawa’s economic diversification and job creation agenda.
