Indiana Lawyer Named Mark Zuckerberg Sues Meta Over Account Suspensions

In a bizarre twist, an Indiana-based attorney who happens to share the same name as Meta’s chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, has taken legal action against the social media giant after repeatedly being locked out of his own Facebook accounts.

The lawyer, Mark S. Zuckerberg, filed a lawsuit in Marion Superior Court, claiming that Facebook’s automated systems have continuously disabled both his personal and professional pages on suspicion of impersonation. He argues that the errors have disrupted his practice, damaged his reputation, and wasted significant resources.

According to court filings, Zuckerberg’s accounts have been shut down at least five times over the past eight years. Each time, he was required to prove his identity with government-issued identification, credit card details, and personal photographs, only to face the same problem again later.

The attorney, who has spent more than $11,000 on Facebook advertising to promote his legal services, said the repeated suspensions undermined his ability to engage with clients online.

Meta has since reinstated his accounts, admitting the suspensions were mistakes. A company spokesperson confirmed it is reviewing the complaint and pledged to strengthen safeguards to prevent similar errors in the future.

The unusual case has drawn attention worldwide, with many observers noting the irony of “Mark Zuckerberg” suing Mark Zuckerberg’s company.
