Phone Snatching Attack Leaves Man Injured In Katsina
A late-night phone snatching incident has left one person injured in Katsina, further highlighting growing concerns over the rise in such attacks across the city.
The victim, identified as Marwan Usman, was assaulted on Thursday night at Ibb Street, near Kaura Gate close to the MTN office.
According to an account given by his friend, Mudassir Hashim, Usman was attacked while attempting to refuel his generator at his business premises. The assailants reportedly demanded his mobile phone, but when he refused, they inflicted multiple machete cuts on him.
Despite the violent assault, the attackers were unable to take the phone. The victim is currently receiving medical attention for the injuries sustained.
Residents have raised alarm over the increasing rate of phone snatching incidents in Katsina, noting that several victims have been left injured, with some cases reportedly resulting in fatalities.
Community members have called on security agencies to intensify patrols and strengthen measures aimed at curbing the trend.
