Abuja-Kaduna Passenger Train Derails, Passengers Panic

A passenger train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed on Tuesday morning, causing several carriages to overturn and sparking panic among commuters on board.

The incident occurred along the busy Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor, a major route preferred by travelers due to insecurity on the highway. Eyewitnesses reported that the train suddenly veered off the tracks, leading to a violent jolt that left passengers scrambling for safety.

Although the exact cause of the derailment has not been officially confirmed, emergency response teams and security operatives were immediately deployed to the scene to assist affected passengers and restore order.

As of press time, there were no official reports of fatalities, but some passengers are feared to have sustained injuries. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is expected to release a detailed statement on the incident and measures to prevent future occurrences.

The Abuja-Kaduna train service, commissioned in 2016, has witnessed several disruptions in recent years, including technical faults and security-related incidents.
