STAFF ALLEGES IRREGULARITIES, DEMANDS INVESTIGATION INTO RECRUITMENT AT THE NASARAWA STATE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (NPHDA)

Some staff of the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NAPHDA), have called for investigation into the recent recruitment by Dr. Mohammed Adis before his exit as the Executive Secretary.

A staff who pleaded anonymity alleged irregularities in the process and appealed to Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Nasarawa State Governor to investigate.

The allegations also include flouting of directive by the immediate past Executive Secretary, issued by the Governor to absorb casual staff and volunteer staff since the last 10 years or thereabouts.

The allegation suggested that, Adis flouted the directive and recruited largely those who are neither volunteers nor casual healthcare providers across the State.

"Some of the newly recruited staff are products of his private School of Health located in Lafia, the staff alleged.

The staff commended Governor Sule for prioritizing healthcare delivery, noted that 5 vehicles procured through the Nigeria State Health Investment Project, NSHIP, a World Bank assisted project, remains missing since Dr. Adi's exit.

The staff equally alleged that the additional 2 Toyota Hilux vehicles provided by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, (NAPHDA), during the Covid-19 pandemic are also missing.

The staff also alleged that the Adis-led management siphoned over ₦200 million provided by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, to clear the 6-month outstanding allowances of Community Health Influencers and Promoters Services (CHIPs) Agents.

“Dr Faisal Shuaib, then as the ED/CEO of NPHCDA is aware of this information and was angry with Dr. Adis. This information made the former ES to remove the State Focal Person of CHIPs Programme, in the State for divulging the information to the NPHCDA.

“There are concrete information from all the 147 Health Facilities receiving Basic Healthcare Provision Funds, where he has forced the Officers in Charge (OIC) of these Facilities to withdraw money in cash paid into the facilities to provide services for the vulnerable people enrolled into the State Health Insurance Scheme to bring to him in cash quarterly and threatened them with sack if they don’t comply. For those that refuse to bring the cash, he removed them as OICs,” - the staff alleged.

Efforts to reach the immediate past Executive Secretary for comment over the allegations proved abortive. However, his aide exonerated him from any wrongdoing, describing him as a man of integrity.
