GOV. ABDULLAHI A. SULE SWEAR IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL CHAIRMEN
The Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has sworn-in 13 newly elected Local Government Government Council Chairmen in Lafia, the State capital.
Performing the swearing in at Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, Government House, Engr. Sule charged them to prioritize people-oriented policies, programs, and projects while upholding transparency and financial accountability.
The ceremony which attracted personalities from all walks of life followed conduct of Council elections by the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) on November 2.
The ruling All Progressives Congress swept 13 Chairmanship positions and 140 Councillorship positions, whereas, Zenith Labour Party won 2 Councillorship seats and Social Democratic Party won 5 Councillorship seats.
Earlier, Engr. Sule signed the Nasarawa Local Government Bill 2024 into Law, which abolishes State/Local Government Joint Account. The move was made to ensure strict compliance with Supreme Court verdict to grant Local Governments full financial autonomy.
