UNIVERSITY OF MAIDUGURI SUSPENDS LECTURES DUE TO FLOODING
Following flooding in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, which has adversely affected University of Maiduguri and other parts of the city, temporary suspension of lectures as well as closure of offices have been announced.
The announcement was made by the University Registrar, Ahmad A. Lawan through a circular addressed to all staff and students, and made available to the Press.
The circular noted that the decision was taken to safeguard students and staff, and to assess the situation before further necessary action is taken.
The statement reads in part " This is to inform all staff and students that in view of the devastating flood that is affecting Maiduguri and its environment, the University Management is hereby suspending all lectures and closing offices temporarily with immediate effect until the situation improves ".
The Management equally extended heartfelt sympathy to all staff and students affected by the flood disaster, prayed God forestall future occurrence.
Earlier, the Borno State Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation had a announced closure of all Primary and Secondary Schools for two weeks, in a similar regard.
