CONSTITUENTS DEMAND RECALL OF LAWMAKERS IN YOBE STATE
Constituents from Yobe South Senatorial District in Yobe State have filed a petition with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman in Abuja, calling for the recall of three lawmakers: Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomoi, Honorable Fatima S. Talba, and Honorable Ahmed Adamu.
The petitioners declared, "We, the undersigned registered voters/electorates regrettably notify your good office that we have lost confidence in the representations of Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomoi (Senator representing Yobe south), Honorable Fatima S. Talba (Member representing Nangere/Potiskum Federal Constituency) and Honorable Ahmed Adamu (Member representing Potiskum Constituency)."
They alleged that the lawmakers have failed to live to their mandates of serving their communities, leaving them neglected and abandoned.
The petition dated August 3, 2024 which was posted on X by a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and Director General of Atiku The Light Organisation on Wednesday, reads: “It is however pertinent to state that we felt so neglected by the said members with no direct, indirect, or even remote traces of their presence in our communities. It became evident to us that they only wanted our votes after which they left us stranded and helpless."
Highlighting the severe conditions faced by residents, the petition states, "As a result of the current hardships in the land, few households in our communities find it difficult to eat while many go to sleep in hunger let alone to talk of other daily basic life necessities."
The petition further underscores the crisis, noting that "child mortality has increased sharply in the past few weeks as people cannot afford medical bills and adequate foods."
Further, the petitioners stressed the urgency of their request, saying, "Hence, the necessity for this petition signifying our collective well-informed decision to recall/withdraw them from both the national and the state legislative houses".
