NASARAWA LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL CHAIRMAN SAYS GOVERNMENT IS COMMITTED TO IMPROVING LIVING CONDITION OF CITIZENS, CALLS GENERAL PUBLIC TO JETTISON PLANNED PROTEST 

Hon. Mohammed Sani Otto, the Nasarawa Local Government Council Chairman in Nasarawa State has reiterated government commitment to improving living condition of citizens, noting that it is to this effect President Bola Tinubu signed the new minimum wage Bill into law, mandated NNPC to sale crude to Dangote Refinery and others in Naira, distributed fertilizer to farmers at no cost, distributed trucks of rice to states as palliative and now commenced sales of 50kg bags of rice at N40,000 only.

The Council Chairman disclosed this while speaking to Ideal Reporters on planned nationwide protest. He said "We acknowledge that there is hardship in the country occasioned by global economic crisis, and sincerely empathize with citizens. Our Administration is taking practical measures to provide enduring solutions". 

Businesses, farming and mining thrive in the area consequent upon relative peace and friendly policies of the Council Administration thereby increasing food supply, creating jobs and generating income for citizens. More to this, is the series of empowerment initiatives by the Otto led Administration, with vulnerable women, youths and the old as beneficiaries. 

Assuring citizens of more interventions aimed at bringing succour to the downtrodden while enhancing their sources of income, Hon. Mohammed Sani Otto expressed optimism about economic prosperity for all, soonest. To this end, he called on the general public to jettison nationwide protest, pointing out inherent dangers. 

"Intelligence gathering has revealed plausible destruction of property should the protest hold. In order to avert this, while recognizing right to peaceful assembly, by implication protest, it is important our progress-driven and highly productive people do not partake" - he stated. 

The Chairman confided in the people that government has heard their outcry and shall respond positively. He however emphasized on understanding and active collaboration, believing that on this basis, development is imminent.

Joint Union of Transport Workers, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Mass Transit and Motorcycle Association operating in Nasarawa Local Government had on Sunday distanced themselves from the protest and jointly called on the public to do same.
