NIGERIAN METEOROLOGICAL AGENCY ALERTS ABUJA, 24 STATES ON HEAVY RAINFALL, FLOODING 
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet has issued alert to residents of Abuja and 24 states in the country on possible heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding, noting that continuous rainfall would be anticipated in the coastal states of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, and Cross Rivers, while moderate rainfall would be expected in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Delta, and Anambra states.  

The Agency has said that there would be moderate and heavy rainfall in most parts of Nigeria in the next 24 hours, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and 24 states.

The Agency warned that there would be flash flooding following the rainfall, adding that Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno, Sokoto, Katsina, Bauchi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Plateau, Niger, and Benue states are expected to be significantly affected.

Equally of note, according to the Agency is that continuous rainfall is anticipated in the coastal states of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, and Cross Rivers, while moderate rainfall is expected in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Delta, and Anambra states.

NiMet said, “Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across most parts of the country within the next 24 hours, accompanied by strong winds in some areas.

“The following areas are expected to be significantly affected: Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno, Sokoto, Katsina, Bauchi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Plateau, Niger, and Benue States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“Continuous rainfall is anticipated in the coastal states of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, and Cross Rivers, while moderate rainfall is expected in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Delta, and Anambra States. Flash flooding is likely to result from these weather patterns.”
 
In its advisory, NiMet said, “Residents are advised to avoid driving or wading through floodwaters with strong undercurrents.

“Take precautions to reduce the impact of heavy rainfall and potential flooding, especially in vulnerable areas.

“Follow safety advisories issued by relevant authorities. Remember to drive carefully in heavy rain or wait until it stops.

“Residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts provided by NiMet.

FMC Keffi Seeks Help In Identifying Unconscious Road Accident Victim The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi, has called on members of the public to help identify an unconscious patient currently receiving treatment at the hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department. According to a statement signed by Aminu Usman Sarki, on behalf of the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, the patient, identified as Sanusi Abass, a middle-aged man, was brought to the hospital around 2:00 p.m. yesterday by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) after a road traffic accident along the Keffi–Abuja expressway.
