CURFEW DECLARED IN GWOZA, BORNO STATE

Following suicide bombing at a wedding that claimed six lives and injured several others, Nigerian Military has declared curfew in Gwoza, Borno State.

Ideal Reporters earlier reported that the bomb attack occurred in Mararanba in Gwoza, Borno State.

The bomber, who was identified to be a woman, presumably in her early 20s, while carrying a baby, detonated her explosive device in the middle of the gathering, causing chaos and destruction.

Yusuf Lawal, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident, noting that another bomber who disguised as a mourner, has detonated another explosive device in Gwoza LGA as people were preparing for the funeral of the victims killed in the earlier attack.

He further noted that the victims, who were all civilians, were gathered to pay their respects to the deceaseds when the fresh attack occurred. At least, one additional person died, while 16 others sustained injuries, all of whom were quickly rushed to the hospital.

In the meantime, curfew has been announced in Gwoza by the military to enable them sanitise the town from further threats.
