NASIR EL-RUFAI RESPONDS TO REPORT DEMANDING FOR HIS PROBE, SAYS HE HAS NOT RECEIVED A COPY

The Kaduna State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee report earlier submitted to the Speaker on Wednesday recommended among other things, probe of Nasir El-Rufa'i, the immediate past Governor of the State alongside some officials who worked with him on alleged abuse of office, money laundering misappropriation of public funds. This development has generated reactions, including one coming from him.

A statement signed by Muyiwa Adekeye, Special Advisor to El-Rufa'i reads in part "We have not been availed a copy of the report, to which we would respond robustly whenever we obtain it".

The statement also noted that " We affirm the integrity of the El-Rufa'i government  and dismiss the scandalous claim being aired as the report of the Committee".

Malam Nasir El-Rufa'i is immensely proud of his record of governance and the legacy he left in Kaduna State. This record of consistently high performance in public and private office cannot be altered by any malicious effort to use the auspices of a State legislature for defamation and undeserved smears ".

The general public, particularly El-Rufa'i's supporters see this as calculated effort to bring him down and deny him the Presidency come 2027, using Sen. Uba Sani, his successor, who enjoyed his full backing in the last election that ushered him in as Kaduna State Governor.

Those against El-Rufa'i however, decried huge loan he left behind, which Uba Sani earlier stated, us draining Federal Allocation due to the State. Ideal Reporters gathered that El-Rufa'i and his camp insisted that the loans were judiciously used and that records are there for all to see, with projects and programmes also visible for assessment.

Muyiwa alluded to hatchet job by the Assembly in his statement. " It was obvious that the Ad-hoc Committee was merely going through the motions of an inquiry just to give some gloss to some predetermined conclusions ".

"It is sad to see such a shameful departure from any notion of decency and fairness by a State legislature".

The statement further dismissed with contempt, the claims peddled in the report, described the call for his probe as jaundiced politically motivated hatchet job and called on the public to disregard it.
