AMID ECONOMIC HARDSHIP, NIGERIAN PILGRIMS RETURN MISSING MONEY

Muhammad Na’Allah, a Nigerian pilgrim has returned the sum of €1,750 (One thousand, seven hundred and fifty Euros) he stumbled upon at the Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Muhammad, a native of Gumi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, reportedly handed over the money to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, to be returned to its owner.

The Commission’s Chairman, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi praised the pilgrim after receiving the €1,750 he found and eventually returned to the NAHCON office in Ummuljud, Makkah, said that the act symbolised his name (Na’Allah) which demonstrated his closeness to Allah.
 
“This shows his pilgrimage has positively impacted on his personal character, behavior and attitude,” Arabi told the officials of the Zamfara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who accompanied Na’Allah to the Commission’s office.  

In a related development, another pilgrim from Jigawa State, Abba Sa’ad Limawa, had returned a missing purse containing over N1.6 million in Saudi Arabia, citing his fear of God as the motivation behind his action.

Limawa, a 52-year-old pilgrim from Jigawa State, discovered the purse containing $800, SR690 (Saudi Riyal), and RR10,500 (Russian Ruble) while on his way to Masjidul Haram in Makkah.

Speaking with journalists in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, the pilgrim had said he thought it might belong to another pilgrim from Jigawa State, as they were together at the time. 

Limawa said upon checking the contents and realising it did not belong to a fellow Nigerian, he searched for the owner at the spot where he found the purse for two days without success. 

Previously, other Nigerians have shown similar kindness, which points to their fear of Allah and good conduct as espoused by the Prophet. They deserve to be honoured, if only as a way to encourage good behaviour.
