24 SENATORS YET TO INTRODUCE BILL IN ONE YEAR 

Tomorrow, June 13 marks one year since the inauguration of the 10th Senate. Keeping this in mind, it has been observed that 24 Senators have yet to introduce any Bill.

By implication, 85 Senators out of the 109 have thus sponsored at least one Bill while the rest remain idle.

An assessment of the efforts of the Senators in terms of introducing Bills indicates a total of 279 Bills were put forward between July 13, 2023, and March 2024.

Of the 13 ex-governors in the Senate, 9 have proposed Bills during the specified time frame.

Sen. Gbenga Daniel - 4 Bills 

Sen. Dankwambo - 3 Bills 

Sen. Aminu Tambuwal - 1 Bill

Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamako - 2 Bills 

Sen. Adamu Aliero - 1 Bill

During the period under review, Senators Adams Oshiomhole, Henry Seriake Dickson, Simon Lalong, and Abdulaziz Yari, all former governors, have yet introduce any Bill.

Before leaving the Senate to take up Ministerial duty, Sen. D Umahi sponsored one Bill. Sen. Geidam however, did not sponsor any Bill during his time in the Senate.

Sen. Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central) holds the record for the highest number of bills, totaling 23, most of which originate from the Executive Arm of government.

Sen. Olamilekan Adeola (APC, Ogun West) with 7 Bills

Sen. Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West) with 6 Bills

Sen. Adetokunboh Abiru (APC, Lagos East), with 6 Bills 

Sen. Tony Nwoye (LP, Anambra North), with 6 Bills 

Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan (APC, Borno Central), with 6 Bills 

Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South), with 5 Bills 

Sen. Suleiman Sadiq (APC, Kwara North), with 5 Bills 

Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim (APC, Ondo South), with 5 Bills

The following Senators each hold 4 Bills: Mohammed Tahir Monguno representing APC, Borno North, Ipalibo Harry-Banigo representing PDP, Rivers West, Onawo Mohammed Ogoshi representing PDP, Nasarawa South, Aliyu Wadada representing SDP, Nasarawa West, Barinada Mpigi representing PDP, Rivers South-East, Joel Onowakpo-Thomas representing APC, Delta South, Ya’u Sahabi Alhaji representing APC, Zamfara North, Mohammed Bomai Ibrahim representing APC, Yobe South, Eshilokun Sanni Wasiu representing APC, Lagos Central. 

Others are Khalid Ibrahim Mustapha (PDP, Kaduna North), and Buba Umar Shehu (APC, Bauchi South).

Senators with 3 Bills each include Emmanuel Udende Menga of APC representing Benue North East, Isa Jibrin of APC representing Kogi East, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe of PDP representing Cross River North, Ned Munir Nwoko of PDP representing Delta North, Alli Sharafadeen Abiodun of APC representing Oyo South, and Jonathan Williams Eteng of APC representing Cross River Central.
