MIDDLE EAST CRISS INTENSIFIED, WITH IRAN ATTACK ON ISRAEL AND POSSIBLE REPRISAL TO FOLLOW
Crisis is the Middle East has been further intensified, with Saturday overnight attack by Iran on Israel. This development, in which Iran authority fired about 300 projectiles at Israel is a reaction to the latter's attack on the former's consulate in Damascus, killing some of its officials and guards.
Though most of the missiles fired at Israel are said to have been intercepted by the trio of Jordan, America and British Forces, Israel's allies, some of them managed to bypass Israel's defences, hitting the Nevatim Airbase, causing slight damage - a statement credited to Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, Israeli Defence Force's spokesman revealed. In a related development, Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant has warned that confrontation with Iran "is not yet over".
While Israel is expected to launch counter attack, against the advice of President Joe Biden, American President, Iranian Defense Minister has said "Any country that opens its airspace or territory to Israel to attack Iran, will receive a strong response from us". This signals prolong war that might consume the Middle East and other parts of the world, moreso that the duo of Israel and Iran are being supported by their frontline allies, with America, Britain, Jordan and France on the side of Israel, and Russia, China, North Korea and Yemen on the side of Iran. Lebanon, Syria and Iran are also siding with Iran just like Hamas.
Iran has maintained that its recent action is in self-defense, which does not go contrary to international law as contained in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter for peace, adding that Israel's armed attack on on its diplomatic premises, killing scores of lives is in defiance of Article 2(4) of the Charter.
Israel has loss it to the court of public opinion, given its ongoing onslaught in Gaza and West Bank, widely believed to be genocidal attempt. Like never before in decades, Israel has killed over 35,000 innocent civilians in Palestine, including little children, women and the aged, as well as bombing hospitals, schools, orphanages and worship centers while blocking access to food, water and electricity to them.
