TWO FEMALE STUDENTS REPORTEDLY DIED FROM STAMPEDE AT NASARAWA STATE UNIVERSITY, KEFFI

Nasarawa State University Keffi students have been thrown into mourning following the death of two of their female schoolmates during distribution of palliative by Nasarawa State Government.

The sad event, which followed Governor Sule's quest to provide food and cash (palliative) to students of Tertiary Institutions with a view to cushion economic hardship they are facing, left two dead.

Sources said the incidence was caused by stampede as the University Convocation Square, venue of the distribution was over crowded, hence their suffocation and eventual death.

Confirming the incidence, Comr. Yunusa Badduku, National President, Nasarawa State Students Association is the situation was pathetic. He added that yet to be identified number of students are receiving treatment at hospitals in Keffi.

The scenario clearly tells how badly students fare, and how much of support they need. It is hoped that corrective measures would be taken in subsequent distribution at other institutions of learning across the State.
