NASARAWA LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL CHAIRMAN REITERATE GOVERNMENT COMMITMENT TO SECURITY OF LIVES AND PROPERTY

In line with government commitment to restore peace in Mararaba-Udege and its neighbouring communities, Hon. Mohammed Sani Otto, Nasarawa Local Government Council Chairman led a powerful delegation of government officials and security agents to meet village heads and youths where he cautioned them against fueling the already fragile security situation.

It would be recalled that on Monday morning, crisis ensued over a parcel of farmland between residents of Mararaba, a sad event that claimed the life of one Ahmadu Sama'ila Ekpeji. Speaking at the Palace of village head of Mararaba, Osu Adamu Habu Ewa, the Council Chairman stated in clear terms, that government will not tolerate any action capable of causing unrest, regardless of who is involved. He noted that security operatives have been alerted to take charge, should anyone move about with ammunition or attempt to violate imposed curfew.

Admonishing youths to remain calm and be law abiding, he buttressed the ultimate need for peaceful coexistence, without which no development can be attained. Hon. Otto, joined by Hon. Samuel A. Egya, Senior Special Adviser to Nasarawa State Governor, Hon. Adamu Salihu, Overseer, Udege Development Area and Area Commander, Nasarawa Area Command, Nigeria Police Force, J B. Salihu, O/i FOB, Endo, O/i Mopol Unit, Mararaba-Udege, Officers from DSS, commiserated with the family of the deceased, assuring them of justice for their son.

Engaging the village heads of Mararaba, Kuvo, Ebbe and Agbazo in their respective domains, amid their youths, Hon. Otto requested for the return of fleeing citizens, insisting that there would be no room of violence and criminality the area or any part thereof. He has headed to Lafia to meet Governor Sule on the matter immediately after the meetings.

Citizens at all ends who spoke to Ideal Reporters have called for the immediate arrest of people behind the gory picture, maintaining that they are well known to them. This, they believe would serve as deterrent to others nursing similar plan.
