POLICE SIEGE KANO EMIR'S PALACE, BAR ENTRY AND EXIT  Armed Policemen and operatives of the State Security Service, SSS, have surrounded the Kano Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu barring entry and exit. Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is expected to escort the newly appointed Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, to Bichi District where he was posted - Ideal Reporters gathered.  This development is likely to heighten tension across Kano State. At the moment, the duo of Emir Sanusi abd Emir Aminu Bayero are parading themselves as Emirs, with each occupying a Palace and surrounded by his loyalists. Not only is this unusual, it has the potential of undermining peace in the State, something the Kano State Government must keep in check.

SOKOTO STATE GOVERNMENT DETHRONES TRADITIONAL LEADERS FOR ALLEGED INVOLVEMENT IN CRIME Sokoto State Government has announced the dethronement of about 15 traditional leaders for allegedly aiding insecurity. This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by Abubakar Bawa, the Press Secretary to the governor, His Excellency, Aliyu Ahmad, noting that four others are being investigated.     The dethroned rulers were accused of aiding insecurity, land racketeering and other crime related cases.   Bawa said seven other traditional leaders were retained while the District Heads of Sabon Birni Local Government and his Binji counterpart were transferred to Gatawa and Bubkari Districts respectively.   The statement reads in part: “District Heads of Tsaki and Asara are to retain their seats. Cases involving District Heads of Isa, Kuchi, Kilgori and Gagi were recommended for further investigation". “The District Heads of Sabon Birni and that of Binji have b...
