ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE OF NIGERIA TO SWEAR IN 87 SENIOR ADVOCATES The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is billed to preside over the swearing-in of 87 newly appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) at the Supreme Court complex in Abuja, on Monday, September 30, 2024. The promotion of the legal practitioners to the prestigious rank of SAN was approved during the 164th plenary session of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) in August, as chaired by Olukayode Ariwoola, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria. Spokesperson of the Supreme Court, Festus Akande, confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the swearing-in would commence at 10am. He noted that although the new legal year officially began on September 23, the ceremony to herald its opening will take place alongside the elevation of the senior advocates.
